Dolores Huertas was the true leader of the Farm Labor movement. Frida Kahlo has always been an inspiration, I made this as homage to her great talent and humanity. I believe you Anita Hill is still my mantra. Not just for her but for all women who let themselves be seen, and bravely face the music. Joan of Arc led the French Army to victory. She heard voices that provided motivation to this diminutive woman. Sojourner Truth, along with Harriet Tubman worked tirelessly to move the enslaved out of the oppressive, racist environments that still existed after the civil war. She was a powerful writer and speaker. She lived a long life of service to those in need. One earring is her portrait, the other a hand holding a broken chain. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, our hero from the Supreme Court. Kamala Harris, our new president of the United States.
The Details:
Each one of these whimsical pins and earrings are hand-painted by me, Robin Senour, so there are no two alike.
For me, art is communication. I created this little work of art, but the conversation between artist and viewer is complete when someone owns it.
The clear material I chose to paint on is durable and easy to bend to my will.
I have my very own laser that gives me the freedom to create any shape that I can think of.
I love color. Finding wonderful color combinations drives me from one piece to the next. I paint them until they say, “I’m done!”
The lucite I paint on is super lightweight and will not pull on the ear, so be sure to wear the rubber wire keepers that come with each pair. The earwires are Niobium, which is safer for your ears than gold or silver. I can also replace them with a clip sort, just let me know.
